Our Best Response

If you have a situation where a virus detected was not cleaned, please follow guidelines below.

  1. Apply latest Microsoft Windows updates (because, fixes available in windows updates are not repeated in CA software)
  2. If you have only an Anti-Virus or only the Anti-Spyware; note that Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware work in combination and both have to be installed for your infections to be removed. If you have CA Internet Security Suite 2010, note that you already have the bundled Anti-Malware package within the My Computer component.
  3. Make sure both your Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software are up to date. For updating CA software, right click on the shield icon on the bottom right and choose Update Product (to get latest virus and spyware definitions).
  4. When you Unplug your network cable and get detached from the internet.
  5. Boot the computer into safe mode and run a complete system scan with first: Anti-Virus and then: Anti-Spyware. For CA Internet Security Suite 2010, simply run a Full Scan within the My Computer section.
  6. Run a cleanup utility like Windows Disk cleanup (or) any software (we recommend software like CCleaner) that helps you clean out temporary locations on your PC (where traces of infections usually keep getting dropped)
  7. Reboot the computer to come back to normal mode.
