For CA Internet Security Suite 2010
Below settings will help you reduce settings to an optimal safe minimum.
1. Disable the firewall and confirm that your internet is blocked out. 2. Re-enable the firewall. 3. Open CA Security Center. To do this, from the Start menu, select All Programs, CA, CA Internet Security Suite, and CA Security Center. 4. Click the My Internet Panel, and click on Update Settings. 5. Click the Network Access tab. 6. Select Home Network if you connect through a router or a home network to the internet. Select Public Network if you have a direct connection to the internet. 8. Click on Apply. 9. Click the Browser Protection sub tab. 10. Click the OFF buttons for Cookie Control, Pop-up Blocker Control, and Mobile Code Control. 11. Click on Apply.
You should now be able to go online with the firewall enabled.
For versions older than CA Internet Security Suite 2010
- Open CA Personal Firewall window
- Go to Firewall tab on the left
- Click on Zones across the top.
- On the bottom pane, under Zone Assignments column right click on each value and change all to Restricted or Public (or everything to Safe or Home Zone if you have a router or an Intranet)
- Set both your Safe zone and Restricted zone on medium (If you're using firewall version 2009, set both your Home and Public Zones on medium)
- Click on Privacy on the left.
- Please disable Privacy by setting Ad-blocking, cookie control and mobile code control to Off. (note that firewall is still monitoring the ports after this change - also, privacy settings might be used by most of the websites that you are visiting...)
- Close firewall to save settings and check your Internet.
