Excluding Files from Anti-Virus

If you're using CA Anti-Virus 2009, simply right click on the file you want to exclude, and choose CA Internet Security Suite, Security, and Exclude from virus scan.

The long method for older versions:

  1. Make a note of the path of the file (or folder) which you do not want to scan for viruses.
  2. On the CA Anti-Virus window, click on Options on the left.
  3. Click on Modify against On-demand Scanner.
  4. Click on Add.
  5. Click on Browse.
  6. Go to the file location that you noted in step 1 and click OK.
  7. Click OK again.

The file will not be scanned by the CA Anti-virus to check for infections any more.
